Missions Update: Celebrating Our Congregation's Generosity
03.10.26 | Articles, Ministries | by Missions Team
This past Sunday, Shirley Coomer shared an exciting update from our Missions Team! We are thrilled to report that our bra drive has concluded with incredible results—over 700 bras have been delivered to the Justa Center. Each item was carefully sorted by size and checked for appropriateness, so when they arrived, staff could quickly distribute them to those in need. This kind of efficiency and thoughtfulness is a real blessing for the community.
We’ve also wrapped up our coat drive, collecting hundreds of coats, hats, and gloves. The turnout from both our congregation and the wider community has been amazing, with people bringing donations almost every Sunday. It’s inspiring to see that our church truly reflects its commitment to serving others—both near and far.
Looking ahead, we’re preparing for a summer drive. With the temperatures rising, we’ll be collecting hats and sunglasses to help keep people safe and comfortable outdoors. Whether it’s a ball cap, a floppy garden hat, or a pair of sunglasses, every donation makes a difference. Please bring donations to the bin in the narthex.
Finally, a note about summer donations: from May 15 to September 15, we will be suspending most donations for the Justa Center, as many volunteers and congregants are away. Essential items, like toasters or coffee pots, will still be accepted, and if you have questions, Shirley Coomer is happy to help. The Shared Pantry, however, will continue receiving donations throughout the summer, and contributions of nonperishable food and other pantry staples are always appreciated.
Thank you to everyone who has contributed their time, energy, and resources. Your generosity is a true reflection of our church’s heart for missions and service. Stay tuned for upcoming opportunities to make a difference this summer!
